Playoff Beards and Sick Flow

It's that time of the year for  the hockey players and hockey fans, males anyway I hope, to put their razors away until their team is eliminated from the playoffs! Players might even start growing facial hair for unbeaten streaks--take Scott Jackson and Radko Gudas for example they got a head start on their beards months prior to playoffs!! I've seen some sick beards in the playoffs... Mike Commodore in the 2006 playoffs had a pretty sick beard..

See what I mean Commies beard is sick!

The Playoff beard was started by the 1980 New York Islanders. Players say it brings unity among teams or it could remind a player when he looks in the mirror in the morning that he is still in the playoffs. In 2009 the Red Wings used the saying "The beard is back" when the team made the playoffs.

Now lets talk about flow. Flow is a term used for hair. Beards and flow go hand in hand.. I think P.C. Labrie of the Norfolk Admirals has not gotten a hair cut since the season started. One hair style that sticks out to me is the one of Steven Stamkos. Geez that guy's flow goes down to his shoulders. In 2010 Patrick Kane grew a playoff mullet.. He looked like he would fit right in at a trailer park on the outskirts of Chicago. Mike Kostka also has some nice lettuce.. Yes I said lettuce. Alex Killorn calls flow lettuce. Also popular in playoffs are Mohawks -- former Admiral Martin St.Pierre had a Mohawk during his playoff stint with Norfolk. I'm going to be posting pictures of sick flow stay tuned folks now its time to watch the Rangers V Caps.

This Pic does not due P.C.'s flow justice but it'll do

Kane's mullet

Shave it like Cote!!

Twitter wars

Now lets talk about twitter wars. If you follow Tyler Johnson of the Norfolk Admirals (@tjohnny09) or Alex Picard (alexpicard09) We all laugh at their hashtags and how bad they rag on each other. If you like the laughs they give you you should check out the Twitter war I have going on with my friend John. Follow him here.  We go back and forth daily and we are sure to make you laugh. You can follow me here

This is a really short blog but I'm just feeling lazy today. I'll blog more tonight.. However like always I will leave you with a picture and the song of the day..

Since John is allowed to go back to games I'd figured I would give him a shout out with this picture taken with this favorite player J.P. Cote #24 for the Norfolk Admirals. Can't wait to see John's face  back at Scope. He is even going to shave his beard like Cote did in this picture what a beauty that guy John!

Norfolk moves on!!!!!

The Admirals ended the Monarchs playoff run tonight.. With an amazing goal by Alex Killorn. Let me lay down some knowledge on Killorn. He recently finished his senior year at Harvard where he wore the "C" for the Crimson. Killorn was drafted by Tampa in 2007 a third round pick number 77 overall. His numbers for his senior year at Harvard looked like this 34GP 23G 23A 46PTS 47PIM.

The Admirals return home to face the Whale Wednesday at 7:15. Norfolk gets screwed on home ice again. What's the point of fighting down the stretch for home ice advantage when we don't get to use it. Oh well the 1st round proved Norfolk will out work you on Scope ice or abroad..

Now back to Killorn for a moment. I recently asked Kills about his Harvard graduation.. Harvard graduation is May 24. If the Admirals are still in the hunt and do not have a game that day Killorn said he would fly into Harvard and walk and fly right back to Norfolk but its totally up to the Norfolk organization. When Killorns season ended he signed an ATO with Norfolk.. A couple days earlier he signed an entry deal with Tampa. Because of clear day rosters he would not be able to play for Norfolk if he did not sign an ATO..His Tampa contract starts next year. Here is his entry deal
Salary: $875,000 (year one) Salary: $875,000 (year two).  Not too bad for a 22 year old!!!An awesome read about Killorn here!!!

Tonight was a great night with friends...we even had an ice cream cake to celebrate the Admirals advancing to the second round.
This is the OT round two clinching playoff hero!!!!!
He is also a class act and will give you his cookies from his post game Dinner if you ask nicely and say please!!

Holtby!

Wow what can I say about Braden Holtby. He is top dog in Washington right now. The outstanding effort by the goalies have kept teams in the playoffs like Mike Smith and the Yotes..I will give you a quick run down about Braden Holtby. I have always said if Holtby was anyone Else's property he would have been in the NHL along time ago instead he was stuck in the AHL kicking ass. I think there should be a rule on how long you can play in the AHL.. Anyone else agree?? Hotlby has a NHL playoff record of 4-3. If you have watched Holtby in Warmups he does some weird things.. I'll post a video for everyone to watch its weird.. Look for him to be a superstar goalie in the near future..

Joel Ward scored the game/series winner.. When he scored I thought it was going to be reviewed because of how much contact he made with Tomas but that didn't happen. Joel Ward told the media that it was the biggest game he had ever played in his life.. Yeah Joel that's a moment you will never forget knocking out the defending cup champs and scoring that amazing beautiful goal!

Speaking of Washington DC I'm going on a field trip to DC tomorrow.I may try and find some Washington Caps merchandise for my buddy AJ.. We better be back before 7 because I have to watch the Admirals Whoop some Manchester butt. The Admirals can move on to the next round with a W tomorrow. Until next Time Tipsy Teddy out!! Im good Bro!!!

Damn Aj Pull it together its just a game.. Oh yeah your team has not even won a cup!!! No wonder why you look like your gonna cry!!

Here Holtby talks about his  warm up Routines!!!

What a game!!!

Let me start off by saying Whoa! The on ice officials finally did a great job calling the game tonight. That's what happens when you have two experienced  refs one of the referees tonight David Banfield is on a NHL/AHL contract which means he works games in the NHL too. There are a handful of Referees that referee in the AHL that have NHL contracts however most of them don't have NHL contracts . As far as the game goes Tic stood on his head for the Admirals tonight. My player of the game however is Alex Picard he came out guns blazing.. I forgot to mention Devos he was stellar tonight also. Barbs took a nasty hit by Legein which Legein got 5 and 10 for his little antics he pulled.. In the second period Gudas got a penalty for tripping but it looked like clipping.

Wow Washington just beat Boston in OT to advance to the second round. If you read my 1st blog you know that if Boston losses and Washington wins my man card is getting burnt .. So it looks like I will have to face the music and watch my mancard burn on youtube I will post the video when AJ sends it.. I will touch on the Washington series tomorrow night.. I'm gonna leave you with some pics and videos like always.. Until tomorrow... Tipsy Teddy out! Im good Bro!!! Blahhhhhh!!!!!!!

In honor of the Admirals win tonight (This is the Admirals victory song)

Thanks to my friend AJ I now have an official playoff beard... If you look in the dictionary under beauty you will find this picture... That's all for now.. I will recap the Boston and Washington series tomorrow but until then Tipsy Teddy out!!!!

One Name Mike Smith!!!

Good afternoon... In this blog I'm going to be talking about one person the hottest goalie in the NHL. Mike Smith.. If you watched the Phoenix and Chicago series you would agree that he is the best goalie in the NHL at the moment. Smith started 67 games this year for the Yotes he had a regular season record of 38-18-10-8. Not  bad for a goalie that got sent down to the AHL twice last year. While in Norfolk he posted 1 win and 4 losses. The desert sun and golf probably did him good. The hit he received by Shaw in Game one made my skin crawl. I was in New York watching it in a bar with The Rabbi. When I saw it I yelled some profane things. The Rabbi and I thought he would sit that game however he stayed in what a trooper. I will lay down some Mike Smith random facts for ya.

Smith is the only goaltender in history to record a shutout, score a goal and receive a fighting major in the same game. That happened when he played in the ECHL.. Can anyone say Gongshow!

Smith and former Canadian World Cup skier Brigitte Acton married September 3, 2010

This is the Hit Shaw layed out on Smith..

I will try and write after the Admirals game tonight.. Until next time Tipsy Teddy out I'm good Bro!! Blahhhh
This song has been stuck in my head all day take a minute and listen to this track

My 1st blog!

Ok. Thanks for taking the time out to read my blog. With that being said I will chirp about everything hockey from Juniors to the NHL. Let me start this entry..

On April 6 the Norfolk Admirals (55-18-1-2) played the Manchester Monarchs (39-32-2-3) in the 1st round of the playoffs it is a best of 5 game  series. The cards were stacked against the Admirals from the get go. Labrie was whistled for an unsportsmanlike conduct because the referee missed a holding call against Labrie that resulted in a turnover and a goal for Manchester. He also got a crosschecking penalty on top of his original call. After that call it set off a "ref you suck" chant by 5774 Admirals fans..My Friend the Rabbi you can check out his blog here hockeypocket.blogspot.com is a very vocal hockey fan who does not shy away from calling the refs out when they screw up (Trust me I know I'm a ref and he has called me out before) the calls in this game made the Rabbi turn red in the face... When your a ref and you even have a 12 year old kid that says Helen Keller can make better calls than that you need to take a timeout and look things over.. That's enough on that subject.

In the NHL I'm going for the Bruins over the Caps for 1 reason. While in Arizona visiting  one of  my friends and his wife I lost my man card due to the fact I could not zip up my Morph suit after using the bathroom. The two friends I was with are well over 6 foot tall.  I'm 5'7 or 5'8 on a good day and you have to zip it from the back. NOHOMO and my arms couldn't reach it and my man card got yanked. If the Caps lose the series against Boston I get my man card back via U.S. mail and if  Boston losses the series Aj gets to burn it and put it on youtube. Look below for some cool stuff pics, videos, etc... Your a bunch of beauty's... I'm good Bro Blahhhhhhhh

check out this song you won't regret it

This is the Morph Suit I'm the Santa one see how short I am compared to my friends?.. No way I can zip myself up.. Why yes that guy in the suit is the COO of the Yotes. Would you take my man card from me for being shorter then my friends?? Sorry guys I'm not as tall as the Jolly Green Giant!!!
